Children

Whether they are two or twelve, children are an important part of the Ethos Dental family. We will work hard to customize a child-friendly treatment plan that will minimize your child’s fears and maximize their comfort.

Infants and Toddlers

We recommend bringing your child in for their first visit sometime between their first and second birthdays. Our primary goal in that initial exam is to build trust so they have positive associations with the dentist. With that in mind, we won’t force your child to do anything they don’t want to do. They can even sit on your lap if that makes them more comfortable. A first visit will generally include:

  • Tooth count
  • Gum exam
  • Efficient Cleaning
  • Fluoride application
  • Tooth care instructions for parents
Toddler smiling while holding a toothbrush
Kinderarten-aged child brushing teeth

Kindergarten and Older

We recognize that at younger ages, children are often afraid of the dentist. It’s hard to understand why somebody needs to poke around your mouth. That’s why we work together with your child, explaining our treatment methods every step of the way, and listening to their concerns. We also encourage parents to stay in the room throughout the exam. At Ethos Dental, comprehensive dental care means that we treat your child’s apprehensions as gently as we treat their teeth. A visit for your child will generally include:

  • A gentle cleaning
  • Gum exam
  • Fluoride application
  • Digital imagery or x-rays
  • Oral development and care instructions for parents
